Montreal Longitudinal and Experimental Study
The main objectives of this study are:
* to identify, from kindergarten, the predictors of adjustment problems among boys from low socioeconomic status families;
* to describe the development of behaviour problems from kindergarten to adulthood;
* to evaluate a program aimed at the prevention of the development of behaviour problems among boys from disadvantaged areas.

For the longitudinal group, after the first evaluation in kindergarten, evaluations were made starting at age 10. The children were assessed annually for behavior problems and delinquency from age 10 to 15 years, and substance use from age 13 to 17 years.These evaluations were made by parents, teachers, classmates, and the children themselves. For the experimental group, follow-up was done when participants were 11 and 12.

The population is composed of Caucasian, Canadian-born males who are attending one of the 53 Montreal schools with lowest SES index, and whose parents are French-speaking and primarily low-income. This population got disruptive behavior scores above the 70th percentile on the Social Behavior Questionnaire (SBQ).
