Determining Infection Severity of CoV-2 in Elderly Residents
The overall objective of this study is to use interferon-based immunological markers to optimize risk stratification for SARS-CoV-2 infected elderly residents of long-term care facilities. Secondary objectives are to focus on identifying clinical, biochemical and psychosocial determinants of COVID-19 severity and their association with interferon markers.
The goals of the DISCoVER biobank are to:
* Collect blood samples to look at molecules in the immune system to determine if they are important for preventing COVID-19;
* On the same blood samples, look for molecules related to the heart and blood for preventing COVID-19;
* Determine if psychosocial factors are important to prevent COVID-19;
* Bank the blood samples and associated data (in the DISCoVER biobank) for the purpose of contributing to health research studies on COVID-19 and related diseases.

Population
DISCoVER population
The population is composed of individuals who are 65 years and older, residing in long-term care facilities and who have been tested for COVID-19.

- Exclusion: Cannot fill out the form in english nor french, or has been transferred in other hospital than the McGill University Health Centre, has not given consentment

Participants were recruited from long-term facilities such as "Centre d'hébergement et de soins de longue durée (CHSLDs)", Intermediate Resources (IR), or seniors' residence. The care staff will carry out the required pre-consent process to their residents being identified as COVID positive, and also to those identified as COVID negative.
