All Our Families
All Our Families (AOF) is a community-based, longitudinal pregnancy cohort developed to investigate the relationships between the prenatal and early life periods and outcomes for infants, children and mothers. AOF spans pregnancy, birth and early postpartum through childhood, and therefore provides the unique opportunity to describe the relations between prenatal events and early life development and to examine key factors that influence child and mother well-being over time. Through recognition of the unique opportunity to continue to collect relevant life course information on a large cohort of families, the main objectives of AOF have evolved to include the following:
* Investigate maternal and infant outcomes during the perinatal period, with a particular emphasis on barriers and facilitators to accessing health care services in Calgary, Alberta;
* Examine biological and environmental determinants of adverse birth outcomes, specifically spontaneous preterm birth;
* Further investigate risk and protective factors for optimal child development, and to understand the trajectory and impact of poor maternal mental health over time.

- General Information on Follow Up (profile, frequency)
-
Since recruitment, mothers have completed two questionnaires during pregnancy (less than 25 weeks and 34 to 36 weeks gestation). Children and mothers were followed up when the children were 4 months, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8 and 12 to 14 years of age. Participants who agreed to be contacted for additional research were mailed a flood impact questionnaire in the autumn of 2013 and three COVID-19 impact questionnaires between May 2020 and January 2022.
