Pediatric Outcome imProvement through COordination of Research Networks
The Pediatric Outcome imProvement through COordination of Research Networks (POPCORN) is a collaboration of established networks, which includes Pediatric Emergency Research Canada (PERC), Pediatric Inpatient Research Network (PIRN), Canadian Critical Care Trials Group (CCCTG), Canadian Immunization Research Network (CIRN), Immunization Monitoring Program, ACTive (IMPACT), Canadian Paediatric Surveillance Program (CPSP) and Paediatric Investigators Collaborative Network on Infections in Canada (PICNIC). POPCORN brings together pediatric health researchers from 16 research sites across Canada. This team will prepare Canadian child health researchers and their networks to respond rapidly to the current and any future pandemics, as well as any child health-related issues of importance.
The overall objective of POPCORN is to develop a research platform that will monitor current and future pandemics or any child health-related issues of importance, using COVID-19 as the proof-of-concept. Further, this platform will prepare Canadian child health researchers and their networks to respond rapidly and cohesively to inform decision-making related to those issues.
POPCORN was established in 2022 and funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).
